Community Conversation: Lung Cancer Education and Awareness
Dear neighbor,
Our health and wellness is important, and it is essential that to have an in-depth understanding of the care available. This weekend the the Phillips Temple CME Church is hosting their Lung Cancer Education & Awareness Community Conversation about small cell lung cancer (SCLC). The event will take place on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 210 E 34th St. Indianapolis, IN 46205. Don't miss out on this opportunity to receive critical information regarding screening, treatment and clinical trials. Lunch will be provided!
Anyone can get lung cancer regardless of whether or not they smoke. However, current and past smokers are the most at-risk for small cell lung cancer which is the most aggressive form. Some of the more common symptoms of lung cancer include: coughing, chest pain, shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing up blood, feeling fatigued and weight loss with no cause. These signs or symptoms can happen with other sicknesses, so talk to your doctor who can help you find the cause.
I hope you take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about your health and wellness! As always, if you have any questions or concerns please contact my office at h96@iga.in.gov or (317)234-9453.
In service,
State Rep. Gregory W. Porter
