Housing Resources for Marion County
Dear neighbor,
A secure, stable place to live is the right of every individual. Sadly, many Hoosiers are struggling to afford housing and some are experiencing homelessness.
Our community has a severe supply and demand issue. We lack affordable homes and apartments, but we have a high number of people who need housing. Indy is short 139,318 affordable and available rental homes for extremely low-income renters. Many households are severely cost-burdened spending more than 30% of their monthly income on housing.
Even though Indianapolis is experiencing a housing crisis, there are programs that can help. To view Marion County’s Community Resources click here. The informative flyer is also available below.
Our community has emergency housing, including a family shelter and a shelter and for women and children. Indianapolis also has an online housing locator service for individuals looking for affordable properties at www.indianahousingnow.org. For tenants at risk of conviction, certain organizations provide legal aid.
I hope you stay safe and warm this weekend. As always, please contact my legislative office at h96@iga.in.gov with any questions or concerns.
In service,
State Rep. Gregory W. Porter
